Rebuilding from the soul: Psychological study society ‘Amor a la Moral’ lives on

What struck Santiago de Cuba in 2012 was more than just a storm. Hurricane Sandy left behind debris, pain and a deep wound, also in the heart of the spiritualist community. The Amor a la Moral centre, a place of comfort, learning and hope, was devastated to its foundations. The remaining aid supplies disappeared amid the chaos of the emergency: looted, plundered. Only a few benches remained... and the image of Allan Kardec. It was as if the spirit itself had stood guard.
Years passed. The entrance to the centre remained open, not as an invitation, but as a silent witness to loss, a monument to vulnerability. But people's faith remained. Silent, persistent, unshakeable. In conversations, in prayers, in the memory of what was and what will be again.
At the centre of all this hope, this silent work and perseverance was one woman: Ivony Recasen Fajardo, together with the members of Amor a la Moral. She fought tirelessly for this moment on behalf of the spiritual world. With dedication, courage, and a deep trust in the teachings of Spiritism, she worked—against the adversities of time and often in silence—to achieve this new beginning. She was at once the voice, the heart, and the hand, driven by the faith that Amor a la Moral could rise again.
Now, in August 2025, the entrance has finally been closed again. A door that can be closed again, so simple and yet so significant. It is more than just progress in construction. It is a sign: we are still here. We are not giving up. We believe in rebuilding, not only with stones, but with spirit and heart.
For Amor a la Moral, this moment symbolises a return to dignity, peace and inner order. And for the spiritualist movement in Santiago de Cuba, it is a great triumph. Amid economic hardship and social challenges, the centre shows that faith and community can endure even after the hardest setbacks. May this new beginning be a light, not only for the members of Amor a la Moral, but for all those who believe in the power of love and spirit.
This development fills us with great spiritual joy and reinforces our commitment to spreading Spiritist teachings.
