Francisco Peixoto Lins

Peixotinho, as he was affectionately called, was one of the most famous mediums in Brazil, especially as a medium of physical effects. His full name is Francisco Peixoto Lins. He was born in the city of Pacatuba, state of Ceará (the same as the beloved Bezerra de Menezes), on February 1, 1905, and disincarnated on June 16, 1966, in Campos, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His life, like that of all great men, was surrounded by difficulties. Let us remember that the inconveniences of life are simply trials which the Spiritual World sends us to polish our spirits, to strengthen us, and to test our faith. He spent his childhood in the city of Fortaleza, surrounded by the affection of his aunt and uncle, as his mother had disincarnated when he was a child. At the age of fourteen he moved to the Amazon in search of work as a rubber tapper. This was the heyday of this material for the construction of new items such as tyres and other plastics. During this period the wealth spread throughout Brazil.
There, in the jungle, while working hard, he suffered both physical and emotional problems that marked his character. After a few years he returned to Ceará, his native province, and there his mediumnity, which had apparently been dormant, emerged. At first he was very frightened, not knowing what was happening to him. He felt surrounded by suffering spirits who pursued him. He feared he was going mad. In addition to these suffering voices and the vision of tormented figures, he suffered a sudden paralysis of the lower limbs.
His family, very Catholic, did not want to resort to Spiritism to solve Peixotinho's increasingly serious health problems. His condition worsened every day to his and his family's despair. One day, however, a group of spiritist workers who were aware of his difficulties came to his house. They belonged to the "Federação Espírita Cearense". With passes, prayers and fluidified water they freed him from the suffering spirits that were torturing him. It was a clear case of obsession.
At this time Peixotinho learns about Spiritism and begins to study the Doctrine of the Good News. He also learns about the mediumship that he brings in this reincarnation and begins to study in order to be able to exercise it with the dignity that corresponds to it. In 1926 he moved to Rio de Janeiro, then the capital of the country, and enlisted in the army. He was transferred several times, living in different parts of Brazil, due to his new military career.
He married Benedita (Baby) Vieira in 1933 and had 9 children, forming a beautiful Christian family. In each of the cities through which he passed, he opened study groups of Kardec's Doctrine, with the guidance of the beloved Master Jesus.
In Macae he founded the "Pedro Spiritist Group".
In the state of Rio de Janeiro (Sao João) he founded the ‘"André Luiz Spiritist Group", which met in his house every Sunday.
In the city of Santos he founded the "Centro Espírita Ismenia de Jesús".
In Campos he founded the "Aracy Spiritist Group" (the name of his spiritual guide) and also worked in the "Joanna de Arco Spiritist Group".
In 1948 he had the dreamed and longed-for meeting with the beloved Chico Xavier. Together they took part in many meetings on physical effects, especially materialisation. Peixotinho was a man of small, almost childish appearance, but with an iron will, a clear mind and a great sense of responsibility, especially with regard to the practice of mediumship. He never failed to attend to anyone who requested his services and never received any money for it, like any good spiritist.
In all the centres he founded or in which he was involved, he always held the fundamentals of the teachings of Kardec and Jesus above all else. His life was an example of self-denial, dedication, responsibility and love for his fellow human beings. Famous are the cases investigated by scientists and non-believers in which Peixotinho, bound hand and foot, exhaled ectoplasm in such quantity that he materialised the spirits of incarnates who communicated, moved and sometimes spoke with those present in the sessions. He also materialised flowers, plants and other elements.
We thank this Spirit for his example of love and dedication to the Gospel of the gentle Rabbi of Jerusalem.
