Cumplimiento «Bendecida Claridad»

The vow «Bendecida Claridad» began on 12 August 1984 as a personal promise made by its current leader, Esteban Martínez. At that time, while still a young man in Cuba, he asked Santa Clara to grant him the opportunity to study Dentistry. In return, he promised to fulfil his vow on the 12th of every month. He began this practice in the temple of Manuel’s family, which they attended twice a month. Over time, transport difficulties and the situation in the country caused the practice to gradually decline. Following the death of the leader of that temple and Esteban’s departure from Cuba, he continued fulfilling his vow at home, maintaining the sacred gathering on the twelfth of each month with the small group of family members who remained.

During his seven-year stay in Venezuela, the vow grew and on some occasions brought together between fifteen and twenty people. Later, after settling in the United States, where he has a large and believing family, the vow became firmly established. Today, «Bendecida Claridad» does not operate as a temple open to the public, nor does it provide charity to people living on the streets. Rather, it is a family space for relatives and close associates, where they gather on the twelfth of each month to pray, make plans, work, and attend to their own spiritual needs. Above all, it is the faithful fulfilment of a promise made more than forty years ago, which has remained alive through changes of country and circumstances in life.
