Il barone Carl Du Prel fu un filosofo eccezionale, uno dei pi\u00f9 grandi pensatori moderni e uno dei ricercatori pi\u00f9 sottili nel campo dello spirito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-deba8671a4ee484f3b487f7c67fba184 wp-block-paragraph\">Ufficiale dell'esercito e dottore in filosofia all'Universit\u00e0 di Tubinga, partecip\u00f2 insieme a Lombroso, Schiaparelli, Chiaia, Brofferio, Ermacora, Richet e Aksakof ai famosi esperimenti di scienze mediatiche condotti a Milano nel 1892. Entr\u00f2 nell'esercito per soddisfare i desideri di suo padre. Dopo la promozione a tenente, partecip\u00f2 a diverse battaglie in Baviera. Comand\u00f2 il campo di concentramento di Nemburg. Successivamente, nel 1872, abbandon\u00f2 la carriera militare con il grado di capitano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-90cd12f669304709c9f9b8cb43cdb2eb wp-block-paragraph\">Trascorse il resto della sua vita a Monaco di Baviera, dedicandosi inizialmente allo studio della filosofia e dell'estetica, con particolare interesse per lo studio dei fenomeni spiritici. Influenzato dalla filosofia di Kant, sotto la guida di Hartmann si orient\u00f2 verso un avvicinamento tra Schopenhauer e il darwinismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-c912072f0d96909192b671215f4c19c3 wp-block-paragraph\">La prima edizione tedesca dell'opera di Alexandre Aksakof \u201cAnimismo e spiritismo\u201d, in cui confuta il lavoro del dottor Hartmann, fu pubblicata con il titolo \u201cL'ipotesi degli spiriti e dei loro fantasmi\u201d. A quanto pare, questa controversia port\u00f2 alla conversione di Du Prel allo spiritismo, poich\u00e9 non appena Aksakof fu costretto a porre fine alla controversia per motivi di salute, Du Prel assunse il compito di continuarla contro il suo ex insegnante. L'opera bibliografica di Carl Du Prel fu considerevole (comprende pi\u00f9 di due dozzine di opere). Tra questi, particolarmente degni di nota sono \u201cLo spiritismo\u201d, \u201cChiarezza e azione a distanza\u201d, \u201cLa scoperta dell'anima attraverso le scienze occulte\u201d, ecc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-8f97187b799c8811b007b00721bc038f wp-block-paragraph\">In una delle sue opere scrisse: \"Finch\u00e9 l'uomo rimane nel dubbio se sia un essere fisico e mortale o un essere metafisico e immortale, non ha il diritto di vantarsi della sua coscienza personale o di limitarsi a considerare la morte come un salto nell'oscurit\u00e0. Ci\u00f2 non \u00e8 consentito soprattutto a un filosofo, il cui primo dovere, secondo Socrate, \u00e8 quello di conoscere se stesso\".
