He was born and died in Paris (5 September 1831 \u2013 8 November 1908). He abandoned medicine, drawn to literature. He was born for the theatre. He possessed a gift for movement, vitality and natural dialogue. His plays were skilfully constructed. He wrote 578 works, including *La Famille Beno\u00eeton* and *L\u2019Oncle Sam*, comedies of intrigue and of manners. *Madame Sans-G\u00eane*, *La Tosca*, *Thermidor* and *Patrie* are among his most notable dramatic works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">His first play, *La Taverne des \u00c9tudiants*, was staged at the Od\u00e9on but met with little success. *Rabagas* went on to become his best-known work. He also produced opera librettos and wrote, amongst other works, texts on Spiritism, as well as mediumistic drawings. Amongst the latter, the following stand out: *The Drawings of Jupiter*, produced by the Spirit Bernard Palissy, Paris, 1858. Kardec, when referring to this work, is not concerned with the authenticity of the description, as he does not concern himself with what happens in other worlds, and asks that it not be forgotten that his aim is, above all, the study of the phenomenon (*Revista Esp\u00edrita*, August 1858).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">Victorien Sardou, in his explanatory article \u2018Dwellings on Jupiter\u2019, notes that for certain people convinced of the existence of spirits, such as ourselves, it must be a source of wonder that spirits have their own dwellings and cities (Revista Esp\u00edrita, August 1858). He was one of the most ardent adherents of Spiritism and a medium favoured by communications from higher spirits (Revista Esp\u00edrita, March 1859 \u2013 \u2018Family Talks\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">He was one of Kardec\u2019s mediums at the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Parisienne des \u00c9tudes Spirites, founded in Paris on 1 April 1858, alongside Camille Flammarion and Pierre-Ga\u00ebtan Leymarie. Sardou told the editor of *\u00c9clair* that, upon entering Spiritist circles, one of the people he met in Mr Roustan\u2019s salon on Rue Tiquetonne was Allan Kardec, when the future Codifier of Spiritism was still merely a curious onlooker.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-6d306545 alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-container uagb-block-40bb819a alignfull uagb-is-root-container\"><div class=\"uagb-container-inner-blocks-wrap\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Victorien Sardou Fue miembro de la Academia Francesa desde 1877 y un fecundo dramaturgo franc\u00e9s, m\u00e9dium psic\u00f3grafo que trabaj\u00f3 con Allan Kardec.
