Born on 25 September 1924 in the city of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o del-Rei, in the state of Minas Gerais, he passed away on 26 September 2004, at the age of 80. He embraced Spiritism with great dedication, contributing to the foundation of several Spiritist centres. He took an active part in the establishment of the Fraternidade Esp\u00edrita Paulo de Tarso, together with other valued companions such as Jo\u00e3o Gil de Lima, Jos\u00e9 Geraldo de Castro, and Vicente de Paula N\u00f3brega. This work began in 1951 in Vila S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o Batista, under a tree, where they gathered for study sessions and for charitable assistance to those in need. It was later moved to its own premises at Rua Jamaica 30, in the Itapo\u00e3 district, under the coordination of Euller Moura Soares. In June 1954, he was one of the founders of the Centro Esp\u00edrita Bezerra de Menezes \u2013 \u201cthe Apostle of Goodness\u201d, located at Rua Nilo Pe\u00e7anha 717 in the Boa Vista district, together with Betinho, Lafayete P. Veiga, Milton Magalh\u00e3es, and Jos\u00e9 Maria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1957, alongside the couples Joaquim Hon\u00f3rio de Abreu and Anna M. Abreu, Hon\u00f3rio Onofre de Abreu and Nilza Ferreira de Abreu, Oswaldo de Abreu and Maria Jos\u00e9 de Abreu, Le\u00e3o Z\u00e1llio and Sebastiana Clemente Z\u00e1llio, and Hely Moreira and Maria Am\u00e9lia Moreira, Sobral took part in the foundation of the Grupo Esp\u00edrita Emmanuel, whose tradition and commitment to the in-depth study of Spiritist Doctrine and the Gospel of Jesus continue to this day, supporting the unification movement in Minas Gerais. In 1960, still with Betinho and other companions, he founded the GEAL \u2013 Grupo Esp\u00edrita Andr\u00e9 Luiz, in the Horto district. In 1968, Sobral met Mr Manoel Alves and the Grupo Esp\u00edrita Irm\u00e3o Frederico, with whom and within which he worked actively for many years. In 1987, at his home, the practice of mediumistic painting began with the medium H\u00e9rcules Luiz Fernandes, who produced remarkable works under the secure and disciplined guidance of his experienced mentor, until this activity was later transferred to the Grupo Esp\u00edrita Amor e Trabalho, in Barreiro de Cima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of particular note is his long struggle with Parkinson\u2019s disease, which nevertheless did not prevent him from continuing his work in service of the Consoler. Sobral, together with Hon\u00f3rio, Oswaldo, Le\u00e3o and other companions, took part in the unification work of the Spiritist Movement within the Uni\u00e3o Esp\u00edrita Mineira, supporting efforts to strengthen federative institutions that strive to unite the Spiritist family around the Gospel of Jesus and the meaningful practice of charity, with a spirit of true fraternity and moral edification. He also served on the board of the Alian\u00e7a Municipal Esp\u00edrita (AME-BH). His contribution and doctrinal-evangelical commitment in Room 24 of the Mother House of Spiritism in Minas (UEM) are especially noteworthy, where, alongside the aforementioned companions and later with Jos\u00e9 M\u00e1rio Sampaio and Manoel Alves, among other dedicated workers of Doctrine and Gospel, they studied Spiritist Doctrine, Mediumship, and the Gospel for many years. The so-called \u201cmiudinho\u201d, that is, the meticulous study of the New Testament, played a central role there, as it did in the Grupo Emmanuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From this group, which sought to enhance Spiritist knowledge and deepen the heartfelt connection with the redemptive message of Jesus, emerged the chart of 15 doctrinal principles, summarising the content of Spiritism according to Allan Kardec: God, Jesus, Spirit, Perispirit, Evolution, Free Will, Cause and Effect, Reincarnation, Plurality of Inhabited Worlds, Immortality of the Soul, Future Life, Spiritual Plane, Mediumship, Influence of Spirits in our lives, Action of Spirits in Nature \u2013 along with many other works that are still used today by the Spiritist Movement in Minas Gerais and in other regions of Brazil.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
