The work is a law for the planetary humanities as well as for the societies of Space. From the most rudimentary being to the angelic spirits that watch over the destinies of the worlds, all take part in the great universal concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Painful and rude to lower beings, the work is softened as life is refined. It becomes a source of pleasure for the advanced Spirit, who becomes insensitive to material attractions, exclusively occupied in the higher studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By work man overcomes the blind forces of nature and is saved from misery; by work civilizations are founded, and by work well-being and science are brought about. Work is the honor and dignity of the human being. The scoundrel who, without producing anything, takes advantage of the work of others is nothing but a parasite. While man is busy in his task, his passions are silenced. Idleness, on the other hand, triggers them and opens up a vast field of action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work also constitutes a great consolation, a healthy derivation for our worries and sorrows; it calms the anguish of our spirit and makes our intelligence fruitful. There is no moral pain, no disappointments or setbacks that do not find in it a appeasement; there are no vicissitudes that resist its prolonged action. The laborer is assured a refuge for his suffering and a true friend in tribulation; he cannot accept life with disgust. How pitiful, however, is the situation of him whom the afflictions condemn to immobility and inaction! If this man has felt the greatness and sanctity of work, if he sees above his own self-interest the general interest and good of all and wants to contribute to it, he suffers one of the most cruel sufferings that have been reserved for the living being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such is also in space the situation of the spirit that failed to fulfill its duties and dissipated his life. Understanding too late the nobility of work and the vileness of the mocidity, suffers not being able to realize what his soul conceives and desires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work is the communion of Beings. Through him we draw closer to each other, learn to help each other and unite; from this there is no more than one step to fraternity. Roman antiquities dishonoured the work, making it a slave\u2019s proper condition. This explains their moral sterility, corruption and dry and cold doctrines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The present times have a completely different conception of life. They seek fulfillment in a fruitful and regenerating work. The Philosophy of Spirits amplifies this conception, indicating in the law of labor the principle of all progress and elevations, and showing us that the action of this law extends to the universality of Beings and worlds. That is why we are authorized to say: Wake up, oh, you, all of you and the healthy atmosphere of home are sovereign preservatives against passions. Among these loved ones who see in us their only support, the sense of our responsibility increases, our dignity and gravity grow, we understand better our duties, and in the pleasures that this life provides, We obtain forces that facilitate their realization. How could we dare to do things that we would be ashamed of in the eyes of our wife and children? To learn to lead others is to learn to direct oneself, to become prudent and sensible, to set aside from us all that can stain our existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is guilty to live alone. Instead, to give life to others, to see us revived in children of whom we have known to make useful men and zealous servants of the cause of good, and to die after having instilled in them a deep sense of duty and an extensive knowledge of destiny, is a noble task.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there is an exception to this rule, it is in favour of those who, above the family, have placed humanity and, in order better to serve it, to carry out for their own benefit a higher mission still, preferred to face the dangers of life alone, Climb lonely on the arduous path and devote all their moments, all their faculties and all their soul to a cause that many ignore but they never lose sight of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sobriety, continence, the struggle against the seductions of the senses are not, as the sensualists claim, a disregard for natural laws, a reduction of life; on the contrary, they reveal in him who observes and follows them a deep knowledge of the higher laws, an enlightened intuition of the future. The voluptuous, separated by death from all that he loved, is consumed in vain desires. He frequents the houses of perversion and searches for the earthly environments that remind him his way of living. Thus he is increasingly clinging to the material chains, moving away from the source of pure pleasures and consecrating himself to bestiality and darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To seek the pleasures in the fleshly voluptuousness is to deprive oneself for a long time of the peace enjoyed by the high spirits. Only purity can provide us with this peace. Do we not see it from this life? Our passions and desires create images and ghosts that chase us even in dreams and cloud our reflections. Instead, far from the false pleasures, the Spirit is collected, reconcentrated and opened to the infinite. Removed in advance from the smallest lusts, he abandons without weighing his used organs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
