It should not be forgotten that one of the first commandments of the Law is: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. While it is very difficult to practise this commandment to the letter, it is no less true that Spiritists are obliged to practise charity towards their fellow-believers. Now, if we must be indulgent, benevolent among ourselves, and if we must help, close our eyes, and even forgive, we must do no less for Humanity. Non-spiritists sometimes engage in quarrels, quarrels, quarrels, quarrels, quarrels, and not infrequently they are not infrequently abusive to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We must get away from all that. If with good manners we can put things in their place, we must do so. But if we must therefore depart from the prescribed rules, it is preferable to keep silent, seeking the best way out of the difficulty. And if, in spite of this, of our prudence and our love, we cannot extricate ourselves, we must patiently suffer the wrath of ignorance and bad faith. We must forgive unreservedly, from the depths of our soul, and repay evil with good, whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is why we cannot forget the figure of the Master and Lord. He is the model, the truth and the life. What did He say when they insulted, apostrophised, mistreated and spat on Him? Nothing. He lowered His eyes and forgave in His heart. So if He, who was so high and so able, did exactly as He taught, shall we do the opposite? Woe to the spiritist who has the opportunity to return good in return for evil and does not do so! Woe to the spiritist who can forgive and does not forgive! The day will come when he will exclaim, \u2018What good did it do me to know what I knew, and to have called myself a Spiritist? It would have been better for me not to know anything, so as not to bear such a great responsibility! (... Humanity groans, cries, despairs, because it suffers so much; selfishness is all-consuming, the victims of evil follow one after the other, religions have gone astray, good men, intermediaries between Humanity and Providence, are scarce; Spiritists are charged with bringing light, for they know why Humanity suffers, why it weeps, why it despairs; let us sacrifice ourselves, then, to be able to explain to it the cause of its sufferings, its tears, its despair; let us proceed in such a way as to demonstrate that pain purifies, elevates, sanctifies, exalts, and thus we shall fulfil our mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spiritist who wants to do much for his fellowmen should not lose sight of the Lord when He was being scourged tied to the pillar, when He was crowned with thorns, when He was carrying the cross, when He was consummating His sacrifice, in order to imitate Him in His acts of love for Humanity, in His abnegation and sacrifice. You are the salt of the earth; if salt loses its taste, with what should it be salted?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
