Am\u00e9lia Rodrigues<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Am\u00e9lia Augusta do Sacramento Rodrigues was born on 26 May 1861 in Fazenda Campos, located in the parish of Oliveira dos Campinhos, in the municipality of Santo Amaro da Purifica\u00e7\u00e3o, in the state of Bahia. Daughter of F\u00e9lix Rodrigues and Dona Maria Raquelina Rodrigues, she showed a high spiritual condition from childhood, having begun to write poetry at the age of 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She studied with Canon Alexandrino do Prado and was a student of professors Ant\u00f4nio de Ara\u00fajo Gomes de S\u00e1 and Manuel Rodrigues M. de Almeida. Her vocation for teaching was innate. She enrolled in the school of Professor C\u00e2ndida \u00c1lvares dos Santos and began to teach in Arraial da Lapa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few years later, he applied for a place at Santo Amaro da Purifica\u00e7\u00e3o. She was successful and taught there for eight consecutive years. In 1891, thanks to her pedagogical ability and her love for the cause of education, she was transferred to Salvador and assigned to the Central School in the Santo Ant\u00f4nio neighbourhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1905, one of her pupils, still a teenager, was selected to teach English using the system of the philosopher Spencer. Am\u00e9lia Rodrigues not only helped him to understand the philosopher's thought, but complemented his learning. She told him: \u2018Young people need moral education, which is the fundamental principle of social discipline; without appealing to the heart, to educate is to form in man the most enduring forces of the social order\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am\u00e9lia Rodrigues' thought coincides with that of F\u00e9nelon in The Gospel according to Spiritism: \u201cTo educate is to form good men, not only to instruct them\u201d. A remarkable teacher, she was also an emeritus poetess, as well as an acclaimed writer and playwright, that is to say, a legitimate cultural exponent of Bahia's Letters. Among the plays she wrote are \u00abFausta\u00bb and \u00abLa Natividad\u00bb. She also wrote children's literature, didactic works and novels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he retired, he found it hard to rest. Her ideal of teaching was still alive. When she regained her energy, she returned to teaching even more strongly and founded the Mary Help of Christians Nursery School, which later became the \u2018Action for the Exposed\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to clearly showing his abolitionist ideology, taking advantage of the time available, he devoted himself to literature and journalism, collaborating in religious publications, among them \u00abO Mensageiro da F\u00e9\u00bb. Then in the magazine A Paladina and, later, in A Voz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am\u00e9lia Rodrigues passed away on 22 August 1926, at the age of 65, in Salvador, leaving her mark of unequalled work in Education, Literature and Social Assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Spiritual Plane, she continued her enlightening and educational work, based on the Gospel of Jesus, the source of inspiration for her works when she was incarnated. He found in Spirituality - the infinite harvest of immortality - further expansion for his spirit, thirsty for knowledge and hungry for love, giving free rein to his noblest desires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He delved deeper into the message of Jesus and is currently a member of the phalanx of Joanna de \u00c2ngelis, mentor of Divaldo Pereira Franco. Through the psychography of the selfless medium, he has contributed pages of untranslatable beauty, dealing with the most varied themes of the Gospel - his favourite subject - from which he draws edifying lessons for those who are tired and overwhelmed, in need of guidance and consolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through Divaldo's psychography, Am\u00e9lia Rodrigues brought the following works: Until the End of Time; There are Flowers on the Road; Light of the World; The Sower (for children); On the Paths of Jesus; First Fruits of the Kingdom; When Spring Returns; and God's Wheat.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
