April 1839 in Landshut, Bayern (Deutschland) geboren. Baron Carl Du Prel war ein herausragender Philosoph und einer der gr\u00f6\u00dften modernen Denker sowie einer der subtilsten Forscher auf dem Gebiet des Geistes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Als Offizier der Armee und Doktor der Philosophie der Universit\u00e4t T\u00fcbingen nahm er zusammen mit Lombroso, Schiaparelli, Chiaia, Brofferio, Ermacora, Richet und Aksakof an den ber\u00fchmten medienwissenschaftlichen Experimenten teil, die 1892 in Mailand durchgef\u00fchrt wurden. Er trat in die Armee ein, um den W\u00fcnschen seines Vaters zu entsprechen. Nach seiner Bef\u00f6rderung zum Leutnant nahm er an mehreren Schlachten in Bayern teil. Er befehligte das Konzentrationslager in Nemburg. Sp\u00e4ter gab er 1872 seine milit\u00e4rische Laufbahn im Rang eines Hauptmanns auf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">Er verbrachte den Rest seines Lebens in M\u00fcnchen und widmete sich zun\u00e4chst dem Studium der Philosophie und \u00c4sthetik, wobei er sich besonders f\u00fcr das Studium spiritistischer Ph\u00e4nomene interessierte. Beeinflusst von der Philosophie Kants neigte er unter der Anleitung Hartmanns zu einer Ann\u00e4herung zwischen Schopenhauer und dem Darwinismus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">Die erste deutsche Ausgabe des Werkes von Alexandre Aksakof \u201eAnimismus und Spiritismus\u201d, in dem er das Werk von Dr. Hartmann widerlegt, wurde unter dem Titel \u201eDie Hypothese der Geister und ihrer Gespenster\u201d ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Anscheinend f\u00fchrte diese Kontroverse zur Bekehrung von Du Prel zum Spiritismus, denn sobald Aksakof aus gesundheitlichen Gr\u00fcnden gezwungen war, die Kontroverse zu beenden, \u00fcbernahm Du Prel die Aufgabe, sie gegen seinen ehemaligen Lehrer fortzusetzen. Das bibliografische Werk von Carl Du Prel war betr\u00e4chtlich (es umfasst mehr als zwei Dutzend Werke). Unter ihnen sind besonders hervorzuheben \u201eDer Spiritismus\u201d, \u201eKlarheit und Fernwirkung\u201d, \u201eDie Entdeckung der Seele durch die okkulten Wissenschaften\u201d usw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">In einem seiner Werke schrieb er: \u201eSolange der Mensch im Zweifel bleibt, ob er ein physisches und sterbliches Wesen oder ein metaphysisches, unsterbliches Wesen ist, hat er kein Recht, sich seines pers\u00f6nlichen Bewusstseins zu r\u00fchmen oder sich darauf zu beschr\u00e4nken, den Tod als einen Sprung in die Dunkelheit zu betrachten.
